8.1k viewsArtwords is precisely that. Art and words combined to form a fusion of art and literature. This work is composed of colorful literary artworks consisting of calligrams, photographs, and redactive poetry. They are different forms of writing which can be both read and appreciated visually. Words have power. Words form images. But what if they formed images you could see with your eyes? Being both an artist and a writer, has led Beatriz Robles to want to create literature that could be seen as artwork as well. Coming from her second book, A Sensual World: What do you see?, the style of writing in Artwords takes it one step further as the writing itself becomes the art. They are one. Artwords is painting with words. It's taking a pair of scissors and making them a little more interesting, transforming it into literary art. And that was the genesis for Artwords- a book for everyone, for art lovers and readers; a book not just for your mind but for your eyes as well. "The prose of Bea Robles teases us into thought with its rich layers of meaning. The reader will be rewarded with this imaginative combination of illustration and prose. "Danton Remoto, author of Riverrun, on Robles' second book, A Sensual World: What do you see? "Enchanting images systematically embellish the book, serving as unravelling of meanings or purposes." Edgar O. Cruz, Daily Tribune, on Robles' second book, A Sensual World: What do you see? "Robles is not always serious. Her stream-of-consciousness has naughty turns...sections end a la O. Henry. Unexpected...The sections are accompanied/depicted with photos which she herself took, including her own paintings." Paul Blanco Zafaralla, Manila Bulletin, on Robles' first book, Life through Letters Her artwork has been described to have a "disarming quality that by turns is soothing, hypnotic, mesmerizing." Gino Dormiendo, The Philippine Daily Inquirer

Art, whether it’s creative writing, painting, or playing the clarinet is second nature to Beatriz Robles.
Beatriz has always enjoyed churning out metaphors as natural as whistling classical tunes, and dabbling in
colors and shapes on canvas or paper. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, Major in Creative Writing
from Ateneo de Manila University and is a recipient of the Loyola Schools Award for the Arts. She has had
several solo art exhibitions in the Philippines.
Beatriz has a knack of visually combining her passions as seen from her exhibits such as “Cymballic
Explosion: When Music and Art Collide” (Heritage Gallery 2006) to “Waltz of the Flowers (Ayala Museum 2013)
and to her exhibit “Face the Art” (Yuchengco Museum 2014). She was a Semi-Finalist in the 2009 GSIS Painting
Competition in both the Representational and Non-representational categories. Her artwork has been described
by The Philippine Daily Inquirer to have a “disarming quality that by turns is soothing, hypnotic,
mesmerizing.”
Her first book “Life through Letters: A Writer’s Journey from Sunset to Sunrise” is an inspirational
non-fiction book composed of letters and essays, available at National Bookstore, Powerbooks, and Fully
Booked. Her second book “A Sensual World: What do you see?” published by Anvil Publishing, Philippines, is
an artistic work composed of vignettes. Her third book “Artwords” is a literary art book composed of
calligrams, photography, and redactive poetry published by Authors Press, USA.
Beatriz’s favorite things—a good book, her clarinet, and a paint brush.
